Our Valued Customers,

The intent of this post is not to make another sale, but rather to offer continued education and updates to our new technology and the RPM2™ brand. As we move forward our blog posts will be drafted by various employees, key opinion leaders, coaches, and even users of RPM2™, like you.

THE BIRTH OF RPM2

RPM2™ technology was spawned from a medical device designed for physical therapy and remote monitoring of patients. About five years ago, I underwent major reconstructive surgery. My options were a prosthetic knee or the carticel procedure. I opted for the carticel procedure, where the surgeon scoped my knee and extracted a sliver of cartilage. The cartilage was sent to a biotech lab where they grew more of my cartilage and returned it to my surgeon. My knee was then rebuilt with my own cartilage.

The carticel procedure road to recovery was long and arduous! After two months I was finally able to begin partial weight bearing exercises. Initially I was only able to place 20% of my weight on the injured leg. To determine this, I was asked to stand on a household scale, which I thought was rather archaic; however, this is common. Through the use of goniometers, physical therapists determined how much range of motion I had. This too seemed very archaic; and thus, I started working on a medical device to address needs in physical therapy.

As we were, and still are, developing this technology for medical purposes, we saw an increase in marketing of devices addressing athletics. We also witnessed the power of smart phones increasing at a phenomenal rate. This caused us to make a strategic shift by developing RPM2™ for athletic purposes. In doing so, we are pleased to bring you the RPM2™ brand. Initially RPM2™ is designed to address running, cycling, range of motion, and pressure. To this end we developed RPM2™, RPM2™ Cycling, and RPM2™ Triathlete.

Approximately three months ago we tested RPM2™ on Slowtwitch’s Greg Kopecky. As a result of this test, Greg authored an introductory letter published on Slowtwitch. The response to this has been very positive! Another outcome of our test on Greg is that he recommended a more robust cycling feature set, where we added distance mode, sprint mode, interval mode, and time trial mode. Although these were relatively easy to develop and implement, we are most pleased to bring you a power meter from the foot bed. With RPM2™ , you now have a product that combines several different feature sets.

On a final note, we are very excited to work with USA Triathlon. On October 1st, MedHab, parent company of RPM2™ and USA Triathlon became partners. RPM2™ is the “Official Exclusive Foot Bed Partner” of USA Triathlon. We look for a long a fruitful relationship with USA Triathlon, as well as other sub-committees of the USOC.
